Schaumburg stays perfect in MSL
Schaumburg continued its undefeated run through the Mid-Suburban League on Wednesday with a 14-3 victory over visiting Rolling Meadows in five innings.
Junior Paige Alt improved her record to 11-0 on the mound by winning her seventh game in the MSL. She also had an RBI single in the game.
Leading the Saxons' 16-hit offense were Elaine Walker (3-for-3, 2 doubles, RBI), Sarah Schwind (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Shannon Felde (2-for-4, double, 2 RBI), Natalie Napier (2-for-3, 2 RBI), Roxanne Kakareka (2-for-3, double, RBI) and Christina Candotti (1-for-1, home run, 2 RBI).
Michelle Birkholz, Brittney Butt and Kaiden Jackson also had hits for Schaumburg while pitcher Lauren Hattory (double, RBI) and Elizabeth Elkins (RBI) had the hits for Meadows (2-20, 0-11).
Fremd 10, Prospect 0 (5 inn): Junior first baseman Julia Wacker (2-for-3, 3 runs, 3 RBI, double) led the offense for host Fremd (22-3, 10-1), which remained 1 game behind Schaumburg for the MSL West lead.
Freshman Nikki Kehoe (10-1) did not give up a hit in the first four innings to earn the win.
Addison Stremel also doubled for the Vikings while Reagan Schneider and Holly Straup each had 2 RBI. Lexi D'Ambrosio had 1 RBI.
Cate Meersman, Kelly Marshall and Lauren Caldrone had the hits for Prospect (8-13, 3-8).
Conant 7, Buffalo Grove 1: Dream Aaron (2-for-2, home run, 2 RBI, 1 run), Hailey Rothstein (double), Alissa Wachal (2-for-3, RBI, 1 run) and Elisa Ambrose (2-for-4, 2 runs) led the offense for Conant (17-5, 8-3) as Sara Neuman improved to 8-3 with 7 strikeouts.
Julia Camardo (14-5) struck out six for the Bison (14-6, 6-5) who received a double from Caitlin Catino. Emily Carnes and Camardo also had hits for BG while Nikki Longdon had an RBI.
Hoffman Estates 8, Hersey 4: Giselle Velazquez (3-for-4, triple, double), Tracy Osimowisz (2-for-3, 2 doubles) and Jordyn Fera (2-for-4, double) were offensive leaders for host Hoffman (11-12, 4-7).
Charlotte Allan (3-5) threw the final 3 innings to earn the win.
Katie Wingerter was 3-for-4 for Hersey (7-15, 1-10) with a home run and double.
Hannah Graff, Cassie Zouras and Remy Gerew also doubled for the Huskies.
Palatine 13, Wheeling 2 (5 inn): Freshman Maddie Craver (7-2) won her fourth game without a loss in the MSL. She struck out seven and gave up 1 earned run as host Palatine improved to 9-14 and 5-6.
Craver also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk, stolen base and 3 RBI while sophomore teammate Victoria Parrott was 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.
Maine West 6, Resurrection 4: Grace Feldkamp earned the win for the Warriors. She and teammate Alyssa Pegoraro each went 2-for-3.
St. Viator 12, Marian Central 7: St. Viator rallied from a 7-0 deficit to earn he ESCC win.
Adeline Swiderski doubled and scored on Meg Naughton's double in the bottom of the second inning.
Haley Robinson followed with a single for the first of her 2 hits. She stole second and eventually scored.
The Lions rallied again in the fourth inning when winning pitcher Grace Kaiser singled ahead of Meg Naughton's second home run of the season.
Robinson also singled in the fourth inning and scored Cam VamValkenburg's second hit of the day.
Olivia Michalik also had 2 hits for St. Viator.
