Learn to stay safe on two wheels at the Schaumburg Park District

Before your children take their bike for a spin this summer, be sure they are up on their bicycle safety with two Schaumburg Park District programs:

• The Bike Rodeo at the Schaumburg Park District's Safety Park, 421 N. Springinsguth Road, will feature a variety of games for young cyclists ages 4 to 7 to exhibit their bicycling abilities from 5:30 to 7 p.m., May 21. Children will learn bike safety and maintenance from the Schaumburg Police Department and Bike Connection, and enjoy an ice cream treat.

• Children will further their safety knowledge through Sundays at Safety Park. These classes take place from 1 to 3 p.m., May 18, June 29, July 27 and Aug. 17.

Safety Park was developed to teach safety awareness to children. Participants ages 3 to 7 will drive, pedal and ride around Safety Park on the 18-passenger trackless train, big wheels and electric jeeps. There also will be safety-related activities available including movies and crafts in the party room.

All children must follow the safety rules. Helmets and gym shoes must be worn while riding big wheels and jeeps. Children must be accompanied by a parent.
