Mount Prospect man gets 24 years for child sex assault
A 33-year-old Mount Prospect man was sentenced to 24 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a young girl between August 2010 and February 2015.
Martin Rubio-Lopez also was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, according to a spokeswoman in the Cook County state's attorney's office.
During Rubio-Lopez's bond hearing in May, prosecutors said the assaults began when the victim was 8. The girl informed her parents earlier this year of the attacks, which led to Rubio-Lopez's arrest in May.
Rubio-Lopez received credit for 196 days in custody. He must complete at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
