Suburban kids sink their shots at Chicagoland basketball contest

With over 325 boys and girls competing all over the Chicago area this past summer, the finals for the Chicagoland Hot Shot Shooting Contest were held at Regina Dominican High School on Sunday, Aug. 16, with the following results:

Boys ages 8 and younger: Champion: Brendan Fletcher, St. Paul of the Cross School, Park Ridge; second place: Lucas McCarthy, Patton School, Arlington Heights; and third place: Zach Karlis, Patton, School, Arlington Heights.

Girls ages 8 and younger: Champion: Molly Newell, St. Juliana School, Chicago; second place: Nora Emerson, Immaculate Conception School, Chicago; and third place: Kiki Faraci, St. James School, Arlington Heights.

Boys ages 9 and older: Champion: Jonathan Kaspar, St. Peter School, Arlington Heights; second place: Lael Root, Queen of All Saints School, Chicago; and third place: Connor Campise, Holmes Junior High School, Wheeling.

Girls ages 9 and older: Champion: Lili Duckman, St. Paul Lutheran School, Mount Prospect; second place: Grace Amatore, St. Juliana School, Chicago; third place: Colleen Chiavola, Onahan School, Chicago.
