Don't link firing of Angelo to Cutler

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is overpaid, and his bad decisions are maddeningly frequent. But to say acquiring him is the reason former GM Jerry Angelo was fired, as Mike Imrem's Dec. 12 column does, is just a laughable jump onto the Cutler-bashing bandwagon. When Cutler was acquired, Imrem himself praised the "bold move" (Apr. 2, 2009). Jerry Angelo made many bad personnel moves - think of his historically awful "offensive line" - but signing the Bears' best QB in decades was not why he lost his job.
