Police say woman caught 'green handed' stealing flower pots
A Norridge woman was caught "green handed," Mount Prospect police said Thursday, when they found as many as 10 flower pots and urns in the back of her car that she admitted to stealing from homes.
The discovery was made when a police sergeant pulled over a vehicle traveling east on Golf Road without its headlights at 2:40 a.m. May 27. The officer observed the flower pots and urns in the back of the car driven by 36-year-old Agnieszka K. Wojdyla, who told him she took the items from multiple houses in the Mount Prospect area, according to a news release.
Wojdyla was arrested and charged with two counts of misdemeanor theft.
Police departments in Mount Prospect and nearby towns have received a number of reports in recent weeks about flowers being stolen from residents' houses.
Mount Prospect police say they have collected many flower pots and urns whose owners have not yet been identified, and they encourage those who believe they may have had those items stolen to call the police department's crime prevention unit at 847-870-5650.
Wojdyla is due in court June 29.
