Prospect stays hot against Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove wasn't able to slow Prospect's hot streak.

The host Knights earned a 52-36 victory over the Bison on Friday, claiming their third straight victory and remaining perfect in the Mid-Suburban East at 2-0.

Kyle Beyak (14 points), Patryk Niemiec (10 points, 8 rebounds) and Grant Miller (8 points, 4 assists) led a balanced scoring attack for the Knights.

Kyle Formanski and Frankie Mack both made a pair of 3s for Prospect.

Hans Haller led Buffalo Grove with 12 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field, but the Bison struggled as a team from floor after shooting 29 percent.

Haller also had a team-best 11 rebounds, while Nate Woten finished with 7 points and shot 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.

Rolling Meadows 66, Wheeling 60: Trailing by 18 in the third quarter? No problem.

Host Rolling Meadows overcame that deficit and managed to top Wheeling in Mid-Suburban East play.

The Mustangs (3-4, 1-1) got a game-high 21 points from sophomore guard Jared Murphy, who got two quick fouls and didn't play much in the first half.

Murphy's second-half scoring and better defense helped make the difference for Rolling Meadows.

"We did a much better job of putting defensive pressure on them consistently," said Mustangs coach Kevin Katovich. "That got us some easy baskets, which really helped."

After regaining the lead, Rolling Meadows converted on 7 of 10 foul shots down the stretch to protect it.

Schaumburg 52, Hoffman Estates 47: Visiting Schaumburg improved to 2-0 in the Mid-Suburban West as 5-foot-11 senior guard Charlie Quilico tossed home a game-high 25 points.

Leading the Hawks (2-3, 0-2) was 5-10 junior guard Jorden Thornton with 14 points.

The Saxons are home Saturday to face Oak Park-River Forest at 6 p.m.

Christian Liberty 64, Keith 40: The host Chargers shot out to a 17-8 lead after the first quarter and were never threatened in Northeastern Athletic Conference play.

Sam Silva canned five 3s on his way to a game-high 19 points, and Paul Weiss had 15 points for Christian Liberty.
