Electrical fire damages Wendy's in Vernon Hills

An electrical fire closed the Wendy's Monday afternoon in Vernon Hills, officials said.

Firefighters were called to the fast-food restaurant about 2:30 p.m. and arrived to find smoke inside the eatery on the 200 block of Townline Road, officials said in a news release.

The fire started in the roof around some electrical panels, fire officials said, and the restaurant remained closed throughout the afternoon.

Countryside was assisted Libertyville, Mundelein, Lincolnshire and Vernon Hills firefighters and the Lake County Health Department.
