Schaumburg P.E.O. elects new officers
New officers are at the helm of Schaumburg P.E.O. Chapter P-LK for 2024. Installed at the chapter’s March meeting are: Ann Moorman, president; Pam Zielinski, vice president; Mary Hengels, recording secretary; Traci Moews, corresponding secretary; Judie Truelsen, treasurer; Connie Claybough, chaplain; and Linda Segall, guard.
Moews, Truelsen, and Segall are serving a second consecutive year in their positions.
Outgoing officers include Dawn Amos, president; Lynn Jessee, vice president; and Sally Hedenberg, chaplain.
Chapter P-LK is part of the P.E.O. Sisterhood that brings together approximately 225,000 women in the United States and Canada who are passionate about helping women advance through education. The organization provides a framework of support and community for all members and is open to women age 18 or older. The local chapter has 48 members.
During the last year, Chapter P-LK members enjoyed two socials (a bunco night and annual Christmas celebration), as well as participating in regular educational programs each month, such as a travelogue of Croatia, a portrayal of P.E.O. founder Alice Bird Babb, and a local version of Antiques Roadshow. Members also participated in a monthly Lunch Bunch, Walk ‘n Talk; and weekly golf, as well as spontaneous events, such as concerts, movies, and games.
The chapter actively supports both international and state P.E.O. projects, including aiding a local woman who has experienced financial and medical needs.
