Five hurt in fiery Winfield two-vehicle crash

Five people were injured in a fiery two-vehicle crash in Winfield Thursday evening.

Police said the crash happened at about 6:20 p.m. in the intersection of Roosevelt and Winfield roads.

The impact of the crash caused one vehicle to catch fire.

All occupants of both vehicles were able to escape without any fire-related injuries.

In all, both drivers and three passengers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

Police cited 34-year-old Brittany R. Harris of Bloomingdale was cited for failure to yield.
