Teen Bake-Off: On Saturday, teens can bring in 18 of their best homemade chocolate chip cookies with the recipe and compete for "Best Cookie." Bakers must be in seventh through 12th grade. Awards and prizes will be given to the winning bakers. All ages are welcome to come and judge the cookies. Milk will be served.

Cookie entries are due at 1 p.m. Open Cookie Tasting will take place at 2 p.m. The Awards Ceremony will be at 2:30 p.m.

Holiday Cooking: Patrons can preview the latest holiday cookbooks and cooking trends and taste food prepared from the library's cookbook collection at 7 p.m. Dec. 13. Recipes, decorating tips and entertaining suggestions will also be shared.

Cookie Exchange: This year Wauconda Area Library is calling for the revival of the Christmas cookie exchange. The program will take place at the library's December Coffee and Conversation program at 10 a.m. Dec. 14. Bring three-dozen cookies to the library along with a copy of the recipe and take home an array of sweet treats to enjoy through the month. Coffee, refreshments and conversation will round out the event.

Family Movies in Spanish: Enjoy popcorn and drinks while watching a newly released film in Spanish in the Lincoln Room at the Wauconda Area Library. "Shrek Tercero," ("Shrek the Third") rated "PG," will be shown at p.m. Dec. 15. The movie is 1½-hours long.

Teen Tech Club: The Wauconda Area Library is starting a New Teen Tech Club for teens who love computers and gaming. Interested teens in seventh grade and up can come and recommend electronic and tech-related items for circulation and teen programming and help plan teen gaming and other tech related programs. The club's first meeting will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Dec. 18.

Reel Fun: Teens are welcome to come to the library to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: At the World's End" Dec. 27 and "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" on Jan. 3. The movies will start at 2 p.m. and are free of charge. Refreshments will be served.
