Briefs: Designer wins award
Oralia Anderson, a graphic designer with the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville, has received the national 2007 American Graphic Design Award. The award is presented by Graphic Design USA of New York, considered the news magazine for graphic designers and other creative professionals. Winners receive an embossed certificate of excellence and become eligible for reproduction in the 300-page edition of Graphic Design USA's Awards Annual. Earlier this year, Anderson received the 2007 American InHouse Design Award she developed for the museum's 20th anniversary Imagination Celebration Ball. She also is the recipient of a national 2007 American Graphic Design Award for the design produced for the museum's 2006 annual report.
Mrs. Claus at Stratford
Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale will roll out the red carpet Wednesday for the first of several planned "Story time with Mrs. Claus" events. Children can meet Mrs. Claus and be entertained by a different story at each of the event dates. The free program will last 30 minutes. The readings will be hosted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday and Dec. 12 and 19 at Santa's Toyland. Children also can wear their pajamas to evening story sessions at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 19. All children 10 and younger will receive a special holiday gift. Santa will be available in his Toyland to visit with children of all ages and to hear their holiday wishes.
'Toy Shop' takes stage
Alphabet Soup Productions stages the musical "The Christmas Toy Shop" at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave., Naperville. Tickets are $8. For details, call (630) 932-1555.
