Police probe possible abduction try
Aurora police say they are investigating an apparent attempted child abduction Friday morning on the city's near west side.
Police said an 11-year-old girl was walking near New Haven and Gillette avenues about 8:25 a.m. when she was approached by a man driving a two-door, dark green SUV that was similar to or possibly a Chevrolet Blazer.
The man began to ask her questions, eventually seeking her assistance in finding his dog, police said. The girl became frightened and continued to walk toward her home when the man pulled into a driveway in front of her, blocking her path.
She then ran to her home with the suspect following her. She immediately told her parents what occurred and called police.
The man driving the vehicle is described as overweight and wearing a black sweater.
Anyone with information is asked to call Aurora police at (630) 859-1700; or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
