Faiths unite for service

Pax Christi Illinois and area congregations and temples will hold a World Peace Day Interfaith Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 25 E. Benton St., Naperville. The theme for this third annual event is "Building Community Without Borders: Living a Compassionate Life." The service includes participants from Buddhist, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Baha'i and Unitarian Universalist communities. DuPage Habitat for Humanity, a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, will hold a homeowner application session from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 5 at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St., Wheaton. The session is the mandatory first step in the process of becoming a partner family to qualify for a home. Applicants will learn about the program and receive help filling out the paperwork.
