Briefs: Zurich Domestic targets coastal sales

SCHAUMBURG -- Zurich Domestic Energy Casualty said Tuesday it increased its presence on the West Coast and also is looking to write more business on the East Coast and in the Midwest. Zurich, which provides strategic risk management services for the energy market, said it is relocating West Coast operational management to its Glendale, Calif., office.

Abbott sets goal to reduce emissions

LIBERTYVILLE TOWNSHIP -- Abbott on Tuesday pledged to reduce its total U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 2 percent from 2006 to 2011. A member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders program since 2006, Abbott has already committed to becoming "carbon neutral" by purchasing carbon credits, hybrid cars and solar energy systems.
