Is freedom really just a tollway?
As I took a few minutes to review the Daily Herald's opinions page online, I found Mr. Rick Bolesta of Schaumburg's article about thanking those who serve.
His commentary was on thanking our veterans and service members, which was prompted from a ride on his "bike" down 355 tollway. (I am to assume it is now named "Veteran's Tollway").
I find it disturbing to have a "tollway" in honor of our Veterans. I could understand a "free" way in support of the freedoms those veterans have provided us.
A "tollway" just conjures up images of mercenaries, soldiers of fortune or my personal favorite, the contracted security group here in Iraq "Blackwater."
You're welcome, Rick, for protecting your freedom, even though it had to take a ride down a "tollway" to realize everything important in life has a "toll."
I guess when it comes down to it, freedom truly isn't free, is it?
