Kane County
• A mailbox on the 7N400 block of Hampton Drive in St. Charles Township was reported stolen at 7:30 a.m. Thursday. It is valued at $20.
• Graffiti was discovered on a construction trailer and garbage can at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 41W170 Russell Road in Plato Township, at 6 a.m. Thursday. Damage is estimated at $550.
• Edward Lanson, 45, of 833 Prairie St., Aurora, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and ticketed for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without a rear license plate after a traffic stop at 12:02 p.m. Tuesday at Meredith Road and Route 38 in Virgil Township, according to a police report.
St. Charles
• Javier B. Mata, 22, of 1204 Kings Circle #18, West Chicago, was arrested at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday and charged with retail theft after shoplifting a $19.96 DVD from Wal-Mart, 150 Smith Road, police said. He also was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court on DuPage County traffic offenses, according to a report. Mata was released from St. Charles custody without bond and taken to the DuPage County Jail, where he was held on $3,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Kane County court Feb. 14.
