74-year-old killed after being backed into

A 74-year-old Cary woman died Saturday after her husband unknowingly backed into her while pulling out of the driveway.

Henry Sward was moving the car when he hit his wife, Greta, just after noon, Cary police said.

Sward was not initially aware that he'd hit her, said Lake County Coroner Richard Keller of the couple who live in the 400 block of West James Way.

Greta Sward was taken by firefighters to Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington where she was pronounced dead from multiple trauma, Keller said. Police cited her husband for improper backing.

"This department is viewing this as a tragic incident," Cary police said in a press release.
