Rockets take 5th in Sterling

Burlington Central at Sterling: The Rockets took fifth as a team at the Sterling tournament Saturday, led by a championship from Curt Mastio at 145 pounds.

Shane Burke finished second at 112, Tim Maroder second at 152 and Drew Hallstead second at 171 for the Rockets while Taylor Schuck was third at 160.

Zach Kein finished fifth at 130 for BC while Garrett Fiorito (119), Zac Schreiber (125) and Thomas Perko (189) were all sixth-place finishers.

At Hoffman Estates: Elgin had a pair of wrestlers win place medals, as second-seeded Robert Hayes placed second at 189 pounds to Lincoln-Way Central's Joe Mahy, upping his season mark to 7-1, and Terrell Walker improved to 10-1 with a third-place win over Hoffman Estates' Andrew Pettit at 160 pounds.

South Elgin's Nick Carlson improved his season's mark to 15-3 in placing sixth at 135 pounds.
