Wauconda SUV rollover stalls traffic
Wauconda police said a brown SUV spun out of control and rolled over in the center median ditch on Route 12 today.
Sgt. Thomas Bender said the accident took place about a half-mile south of Bonner Road, and resulted in no injuries.
Bender said rush hour traffic was reduced to one southbound lane from about 6:45 a.m. until just before 8 a.m. while the scene was investigated.
The SUV was headed south on Route 12 when the truck spun out of control on ice and slipped into the center median, he said. The median in that area is a grassy ditch. As the truck slipped into the ditch, it rolled over on its side.
The driver, who police would not name, was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. He exited the vehicle and called police.
The victim was not cited by police, and refused treatment from rescue personnel.
The SUV was towed from the scene and Route 12 reopened at 7:45 a.m., Bender said.
