Briefs: Kraft adds two directors to board
NORTHFIELD -- Kraft Foods Inc. on Tuesday announced the appointment of Myra M. Hart and Fredric G. Reynolds to its board of directors. Separately, Altria Group Chief Executive Officer Louis Camilleri, who oversaw the spin-off of Kraft from Altria, will step down. Hart is a Harvard Business School professor and Reynolds is CBS Corp.'s chief financial officer.
CDW named to Blue Ribbon list
VERNON HILLS -- CDW Corp. on Tuesday said it was named to the 2007 Fortune Blue Ribbon Company list, its first such listing. To make Fortune magazine's top list, a company must be on at least four of its other lists. The Vernon Hills-based computer products firm made America's and global most admired companies lists, 100 Best Companies to Work For list and Top 20 Great Employers for New Grads list.
DOWNERS GROVE -- Sara Lee Corp. on Tuesday said it has won a contract to be the exclusive provider of Dunkin' Donuts coffee to foodservice outlets. The multi-year contract means Sara Lee can sell Dunkin' Donuts coffee to foodservice sites, from office buildings to cafeterias. Sara Lee already is a coffee roaster and supplier to Dunkin' Donuts franchises. Sara Lee did not reveal the estimated value of the deal.
Veolia to join Climate Exchange
LOMBARD -- Veolia Environmental Services North America Corp. is becoming a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange. The exchange is the only North America greenhouse gas emissions registry, reduction and trading program. The France-based waste management firm, with its U.S. headquarters in Lombard, also intends to cut emissions 6 percent by 2010.
Probation lifted on Career Education
HOFFMAN ESTATES -- Career Education Corp. on Tuesday announced that its American InterContinental University has been removed from probation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The accreditation group placed the university on probation in December of 2005, which the Hoffman Estates-based for-profit education chain said hampered its growth. The group had said Career Education did not provide it with the proper documentation on practices, among other violations.
Galvin joins board of tech start-up
SCHAUMBURG -- Former Motorola chief executive Chris Galvin has been named to the board of directors of start-up technology firm Cleversafe Inc. Galvin, who is a co-founder of investment firm Harrison Street Capital, is also an investor in the Chicago-based data-storage company, which is in the midst of raising money. Galvin resigned from Motorola, founded by his grandfather, in 2003 after six years at the helm.
Joseph Freed plans move from Palatine
PALATINE -- Real Estate development firm Joseph Freed and Associates announced Tuesday the company will move its corporate headquarters and about 125 jobs from Palatine to the Sullivan Center in downtown Chicago early next year. The company said the move will place it closer to its major projects.
Dixon Companies foresees growth
YORKVILLE -- Dixon Companies Inc. President Scott Dixon predicted the company will spend $50 million next year on construction nationwide. The McHenry-based real estate development and investment firm, which has an office in Yorkville, also plans to double its staff next year to 40 people.
