Thoughts on a moment of silence

A new school directive to institute a moment of silence and meditation before class time was seized upon by atheist Rob Sherman as a thinly disguised way for some people to communicate with God.

Perhaps he also should check out symphony and operatic conductors who, before raising their batons, bow their heads for a moment of deep meditation before bringing down their batons.

While on a baseball field, we will find many a pitcher also going into deep meditation before he pitches a ball to the batter.

Question for Sherman: Might these persons be construed as praying to God for a good performance, or just meditating on what they are going to do ?
