Choral splendor comes to ECC stage
The Elgin Community College Concert Choir presents "Choral Splendor" at 7:30 p.m. today in Blizzard Theatre in the ECC Visual and Performing Arts Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.
Director John G. Slawson begins the Concert Choir's season with an array of uplifting and inspiring choral works. The audience will enjoy a veritable choral palette of entertaining music sure to delight young and old. Solos and ensemble selections by talented singers also will adorn a portion of the program.
Slawson, ECC professor of music, director of choral studies, and artistic director of ECC's Musical Theatre, celebrates 22 years of teaching and choral conducting at ECC. He founded the Concert Choir in 1987 and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble in 2000.
Larry Dieffenbach, the accompanist for the Concert Choir, is on the music faculty at ECC, teaches privately in Geneva, and is on the faculty of Kindermusik in St. Charles. He is the educational director at Cordogan's Pianoland, St. Charles, and is the musical director of the American Grands concert to be held at ECC in February 2008.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors. Tickets are now available online at www.elgin.edu/arts or at the ECC box office located in the Arts Center.
