Political bias in story on veterans

I was pleased to see the Daily Herald showcase the role veterans have played in defending this wonderful country whose very existence would be in question if not for their sacrifices.

Having a father who served in the European theatre in World War II, I am well aware of the impact this horrible conflict had on the course of history. He, along with all veterans, deserves every bit of recognition.

I was perplexed, however, by the statistics that were shown at the top of the Daily Herald's front page. Why were the U.S. veterans who were Hispanic both segmented and highlighted? My father, whose origins were from Europe, was most proud of the fact that he was an American, not Italian, Polish, Irish, etc. He would have viewed the segregation of his nationality on the front page of your newspaper as an affront to the very freedoms he was fighting for.

I suggest you leave your political biases to the editorial page where they belong.

Proud to be an American, Dave Barlog
