Rush releases QB Matt D'Orazio
The Chicago Rush announced Wednesday it has released Matt D'Orazio, freeing the quarterback to negotiate with any team in the Arena Football League.
The move comes one week after the Rush signed free agent QB Sherdrick Bonner to a two-year contract.
D'Orazio spent the past two seasons as the Rush's starting quarterback, leading the team to the ArenaBowl XX title in 2006 and a Central Division title in 2007. In 31 games with the Rush, D'Orazio completed 656 of 949 passes for 7,333 yards and 145 touchdowns, while only throwing 15 interceptions.
Despite battling a back injury which required surgery at the conclusion of the season, D'Orazio had a career-year in 2007, setting career-highs and Rush single season records for attempts (506), completions (351), passing yards (3,789) and touchdowns (82).
