If only men could become pregnant
In reply to Bob Vogt's letter of Oct. 18 in which he asks why pro-choice people don't call anti-choice people pro- life. Well it's simple: They are not pro-life; they are pro-fetus. They don't seem to care about people after they are born, and if you are a supporter of this administration you are about war, death, destruction and torture. These are not Christian values.
Vogt also says pro-choice people have fallen away from their religion. That is not true. I can't speak for others, but my views are based on religion. Jesus said nothing about abortion and the Bible says in Genesis 2:7 that you become a living soul when you begin to breathe. Life begins when you begin to breathe and ends when you stop breathing. If a fetus is born and doesn't breathe, it is not a life.
But face it, if men had the babies there would be an abortion clinic on every corner. So why don't men do something about their own gender; women are not getting pregnant on their own, you know. In America there are over 200 rapes a day. One in three women are abused by their spouses or boyfriends. Three women are killed every day by their spouses or boyfriends. Every nine seconds a woman is beaten. Two in five women who are murdered are killed by their husbands, and homicide is the leading cause of death of pregnant women. Abused women must go into a shelter with their children while the man stays happily at home.
Maybe when men start doing their part there will be less reason for women to have abortions. Women will never go back to being mutilated in back alley abortions or mutilating themselves with crochet needles. Abortion must be kept legal.
