Skokie firm plans move to Mount Prospect digs

A Skokie company will be pulling up stakes in that suburb to move into one of Mount Prospect's largest corporate buildings.

Rauland-Borg Corp. will be relocating to 1800 Central Road, currently occupied in part by Robert Bosch Tool Corp., which is staying.

Rauland, with about 250 employees in Skokie, will be moving to its new spot incrementally with the hopes of being fully installed by this time next year, President and Chief Executive Officer Norm Kidder said.

The hospital equipment manufacturer will be taking about 250,000 square feet, or about 30 percent of the building.

Even with Rauland taking up room, about a third of the building still will be available for occupancy, village officials said.

The company expects to hire more people, which is one of the reasons it was looking for a bigger space, Kidder said. It's also consolidating its Skokie and Waukegan locations, Kidder said.

The building was built in the 1960s and occupied by Multi-Graphics, which was one of the largest employers in the village at the time, Village Manager Michael Janonis said. 3Com moved in during the 1990s but left by 2000, he said.
