Huntley approves tax levy

The Huntley village board has approved its 2007 tax levy request. The village's levy request for 2007 will be $3.75 million, a 29 percent increase from Huntley's actual collection in 2006, $2.9 million. But the village will only collect an estimated $3.1 million this year, Finance Director Jennifer Chernak said. The tax rate will decrease to an estimated 42.5 cents per $100 of equalized assessed value. Although Huntley's tax rate has steadily gone down since 1997, the village's revenues have risen because of new growth. A public hearing on the tax rate is set for Dec. 6.
