Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program: This unique exercise program is designed specifically for people with arthritis and lead by an instructor certified by the Arthritis Foundation. It uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility, range of motion and muscle strength. Exercises will be done while seated on a chair or standing with a chair for support. New participants must obtain their physician's consent. Seniors should wear comfortable, non-slip shoes and loose clothes. Program is for ages 50 and up, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., Mondays and Thursdays, Nov. 12 to Jan. 10 in the Senior Center, at the Robert W. Rolek Community Center. There is a fee of $32 for senior center members, $37 for nonmembers. The registration deadline is Thursday.
Birthday Party Dance: All Seniors are invited to celebrate the month's birthdays at the next celebration, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Nov. 15. Entertainment will be provided by a live, three-piece band and refreshments will be served. Seniors with a November birthday get free admission, all others pay $3. Advance registration is requested with the Senior Center office at the Round Lake Area Park District Community Center.
Mom and Me Fantasy Fun: Girls ages 3 to 8 can dress-up in their favorite special outfit for this fantasy class with mom from 6:30 to 7:40 p.m. Nov. 16. Each couple will make a unicorn or a stuffed animal unicorn purse, and choose a personalized T-shirt or a wallet for the purse. The park district will provide stamps, glitter paints and embellishments. A second fantasy activity will be designing a crystal glass necklace with a fairy angel charm. The fairy tale ends with a snack and a sprinkle of fairy dust. Register at the Robert W. Rolek Community Center or the Sports Center.
Turkey Golf Scramble: The Renwood Golf Course Fall Turkey Scramble event will begin with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. Nov. 17-18 with a 10 a.m. This tournament is flighted based on the number of teams. The winning team of each flight will receive a turkey, plus a gift certificate to Renwood's pro-shop. Entry fees are $40 each for season pass holders or $50 for non-pass holders. Fees include cart, green fee, bratwurst or hotdog, chili after golf, two beverages, skins, pin events, gift certificate payback to 30 percent of teams and the turkey to winning team members. Senior Foot Care Clinic: Round Lake Area Park District in conjunction with the McHenry Retirement Community will host a Senior Foot Care Clinic from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 30. Certified foot care attendants for the "R" Home Care Services, Inc. will soak, pedicure and massage patient's feet. It is asked that participants bring two towels and one washcloth. Each appointment takes 20 minutes and reservations are required. To make an appointment, call Cathy in the Senior Center at (847) 546-8558. Payment is required one week prior to the appointment and can be paid at the Round Lake Area Park District registration desk. Cost for services is $16 for Senior Center members and $19 for nonmembers.
