2 members stood up for taxpayers

Only two members of the District 211 school board showed the nerve to stand up to the teachers union. The raises given are larger than any corporations are giving out (except to overpaid executives), they pay less for medical coverage than most employees in the private sector, and their pensions are better than most in the private sector.

The biggest difference is, however, there is no merit system in place to give those teachers who earn it the raise they deserve. The downside would, of course, be that those who don't deserve any raise wouldn't get one.

Instead they continue to benefit financially because the school board members crumble at taxpayers' expense. I do thank Anna Klimkowicz and Bill Lloyd for trying to bring some sense to the contract process.
