Dist. 57 taxpayers being robbed
To the editor: It was interesting to see in the Daily Herald Schools Report Card that District 57 administrators are ranked the 12th highest paid administrators in the state and six-county area, yet the per pupil spending and teacher salaries ranked well below the average, placing 183rd and 171st respectively. It is great to see that the district is able to control per pupil spending and teacher pay, and still have high ISAT rankings.
What is shameful is that the administrators cannot control their own inflated pay. It's time to get realistic about what burden the taxpayers should be shouldering.
We appreciate what the administrators do for our schools, and they should be compensated fairly. However, it has reached a point where the taxpayers are being robbed to pay for the administrator's salaries, benefits, retirement packages, etc. The next time a referendum request is brought up where the administrators are whining to taxpayers that they don't have enough money for our schools, they should take a serious look at where the money is really going, and they'll realize it's in their own pockets.
