Teachers, simply consider the source

Teachers, take courage. I do not believe, nor do I think anything like a majority believes, the blather recently published in our local newspaper. They exist to sell papers, and somewhere along the line they became fixated with the idea that you must continually stir the pot, and any pot will do.

Health scares? Check. Rampant racism? Check. Right-wing cabals that want to infiltrate school boards? Check.

Unfortunately, you just happen to be the target du jour. I have seen my faith, my heritage, my country and my basic sense of fair play savaged time and time again in this publication.

Teachers, take some comfort in this if you can. While the president's approval ratings are in the 20s and Congress hovers at about 14 percent, the media score even worse. I read a recent study where 92 percent of the American people do not trust the Fourth Estate.

And educators, it's all your fault. You taught us to read, to write, to think and you taught us to see right through the kind of baloney the Herald is writing about you on a daily basis. Perhaps that's the real source of their animus.
