Remembering Pearl Harbor

The St. Charles American Legion Post 342 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5036 will host a Pearl Harbor Day remembrance dinner at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 at St. Charles Place restaurant, 2550 W. Main St., St. Charles. Guests can choose prime rib for $31, chicken breast for $22 or tilapia for $27. The cost includes dessert. There will be a program by members. Stop soil erosion

The Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conservation District offers a seminar on "Soil Erosion and Sediment Control" from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at James "Pate" Phillip State Park, 2054 W. Stearns Road, Bartlett.

This seminar is intended to provide engineers, planners and consultants with insight and clarification on local, state and federal regulations regarding soil erosion and sediment control for construction sites, as well as guidelines for Best Management Practices selection, installation, and maintenance.

'Nutcracker' in Elburn

The Blackberry School of Ballet and Dance will perform "The Nutcracker" at 2 and 7 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Elburn and Countryside Community Center, 525 N. Main St. in Elburn. Own the court

The West Aurora Blackhawk Sports Boosters will hold an online auction beginning Dec. 14 for 25 pieces of the high school's original gymnasium floor. With the marketing slogan, "Own a Piece of Hard Court History: 54 Years of Memories," the boosters hope to raise funds for further renovation of the gym.
