Politicians insult veterans once again
Once again politicians are using veterans to make "feel good points". I read that they are renaming I-355, Veterans Memorial Highway. Whoop de do!
While I applaud the thought, my question is why the state is not funding initiatives for veterans that are already on the books. There is a state hospital for veterans that had a new section built but there are no funds to staff it. There is money missing from the portion of the lottery that goes to veterans and heads aren't rolling.
Why do we always have to kiss up to the federal and state government to get adequate funding for our wounded and disabled from all wars? And yet illegal immigrants get all the benefits we have to fight for.
Why do we have to put up with the likes of Sen. Durbin who compares us to Pol Pot and Nazis, and Sen. Obama who can't even wear an American flag on his lapel or put his hand over his heart for the Pledge of Allegiance. They talk a good game but don't measure up.
These are all questions I would like answered before we applaud the naming of a highway for veterans that, by the way, is a tollway.
