Briefs: Extended leaf pickup
Libertyville residents will get an extra chance to dispose of landscape debris. Mundelein Disposal has arranged for the one-time extension for pick-up of residential landscape waste for its Libertyville customers. Schools want cameras
If you've got a 35 mm camera but no longer use it, students in photography classes at Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools will take it off your hands. The students need cameras with interchangeable lenses, not auto-focus or instant models. The donations can be considered tax-deductible. At Vernon Hills High, call Lin Jackowski at (847) 932-2283. Mundelein gets award
The Mundelein After-School Coalition has received a first place Governor's Hometown Award in the Youth Involvement category. The award was announced Tuesday at a ceremony in Springfield. Since 1995, the village has received 15 Governor's Hometown Awards.
Concerts in Libertyville
Libertyville High School will host two holiday concerts in December. The shows are set for 6 p.m. Dec. 11 and 7:30 Dec. 13 in the school auditorium, 708 W. Park Ave. The concert choir, master singers and the holiday orchestra are among the groups performing. Tickets are free but are mandatory to attend. Violin concert at library
The Magical Strings of Youth will perform a violin concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Des Plaines Public Library, 1501 Ellinwood Ave. The group features students from the Buffalo Grove's Betty Haag Academy of Music. The group has performed around the world for dignitaries like British royal family and the late Pope John Paul II.
