Cary Area Public Library notes

For adults

Adult Book Discussion Group: Group meets at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 28 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 29 to discuss "Night Fall" by Nelson DeMille.

Teen Programs

Yoga and Meditation for Teens: Teens, this is your chance to try yoga and meditation. The instructors from Yoga Space in Cary will treat you to a sample of yoga and meditation for relaxation from 1 to 2 p.m. Nov. 10. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement. Class is limited to 20 teens.

Teen Advisory Board: Help make the Cary Area Public Library be what you want it to be. Students in seventh through 12th grades can join the Teen Advisory Board and suggest new programs and materials, help the Friends of the Library with their book sales, and just hang out and have fun.

The next meeting is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 20. Be sure to check out the new video game collection displayed in the Teen Area. All games are available for a one-week checkout; no holds are permitted. If you have suggestions for games to add to our collection, stop by the Adult Services desk.

Not Your Mother's Book Club: Teens in seventh through 12th grades will meet from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday to eat, drink and discuss "Scrambled Eggs at Midnight" by Brad Barkley and Heather Hepler. Books are available at the circulation desk. Each discussion is limited to 12 participants.

For kids

American Girl Party: Young ladies in first through eighth grades, will meet at 12:30 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. Nov. 3. You and your favorite doll are cordially invited to attend an American Girl birthday party. Come in your favorite party clothes and wear as much jewelry as your heart desires. We'll sing "Happy Birthday," eat cake, and giggle away as we play silly party games. With your doll at your side this will be a celebration you will always remember. Registration is complete when the $3 fee is paid. Program is for Cary Library card holders only and one session per person.

Story Explorers -- Spider Tales: Children in kindergarten through third grades will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Nov. 8. "Anansi" is a clever, legendary spider from West Africa. His folktales blend magic and mischief. During this program, children will share a story, make a craft and have a snack related to the theme of the day.

Father/Son Book Club: Boys in fourth through sixth grades can enjoy a chance to read with their father or other adult male and then join us for a fun-filled book discussion with activities from 7 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8. This month's book is "Gregor the Overlander" by Suzanne Collins. Register now at the Youth Services desk or by phone.

Mother Nature: Children up to age 5, are invited to meet Mother Nature and her friends for a fun-filled program of interactive storytelling and puppetry for the young and young at heart. The program is from 10 to 10:40 a.m. Nov. 27. Mother Nature is Mary Jane Hailey (Mother Goose), who has delighted children at the library with many previous performances.
