Teacher admits inappropriate contact

A former Naperville substitute teacher admitted Monday inappropriately touching a male student.

Brett Zagorac, 24, of Munster, Ind., pleaded guilty to misdemeanor battery for rubbing the boy's back. He faces either probation or up to one year in jail when sentenced Nov. 28.

In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped 25 other misdemeanor counts in which Zagorac was accused of rubbing 13 students' backs, both over and under their clothing, while teaching in Downers Grove, Hinsdale and Naperville from January to March 2005. The students were between the ages of 5 and 9 at the time and attended Highlands, Meadows Glens and Prairie elementary schools in Naperville and Pierce Downer School in Downers Grove.

Zagorac faced similar allegations in northwest Indiana, but prosecutors there dropped charges earlier this month after their only complaining witness failed to show up for trial.
