Hawks may televise some home games this season
Breaking with their blackout tradition, Chicago Blackhawks representatives say they have opened negotiations with Comcast SportsNet Chicago about a limited schedule to televise some home games this season.
Because CSNC's current schedule does not have many open dates, the statement from Blackhawks noted that it will some time to make any adjustments, and that no definitive agreement has been reached to date.
Despite the lack of a firm deal, "We are convinced that it is the appropriate next step to re-energize Chicago hockey fans and create new fans. We are also working on a long-term strategy for televising additional home games in the future," the statement read.
The statement did not address whether all home games would be televised in the future, or how many games the franchise expected to televise.
Comcast SportsNet Chicago is co-owned by Comcast, the Blackhawks, the White Sox, the Cubs and the Chicago Tribune.
