Make a difference with food donation

In honor of Make A Difference Day, the Women's Service League of Hampshire will be collecting nonperishable food items for the Burlington/Hampshire Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27.

The group will be going door-to-door asking community members to donate canned items, complete meals, cereals and other necessities to help stock the food pantry. The food pantry serves residents in need from Gilberts to Genoa. Help the Women's Service League and the food pantry provide for the needy. Monetary donations made payable to the food pantry also will be greatly appreciated.

For information about this event, call Liz Magnussen, Women's Service League president, at (847) 683-4163.

Dads, girls to dance at Cary-Grove

Tickets are now on sale for the annual Cary-Grove High School Pom Squad Daddy Daughter Dance, scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 10 at the high school.

The event attracts hundreds of local girls from pre-school to eighth grade to share a special evening with Dad.

This year's theme is a Hawaiian Getaway. The school's front entrance will be transformed into a tropical setting and themed, personalized photos will be available for each girl and her dad.

The cost is $20 per dad and daughters are free.

The evening includes a DJ, dancing, refreshments and a surprise gift for each daughter. Hawaiian photos will be available for $5 each.

The annual fete is an important fundraiser for the high school pom squad, which uses the funds to cover the costs of competition on the road to the state competition. To register in advance for $20, visit d155.org/cg and click on the poms link under Athletics for the Daddy Daughter Dance application form. Tickets will be available at the door for $25.

Send us your homecoming pics

Hey, Huntley Red Raiders and Dundee-Crown Chargers: We can't be everywhere, but you can.

Include a description of what's going on and identify all the people in the photos, including first and last name. Send your photos in a digital jpeg format with a resolution of at least 300 dots per inch.
