Marengo student wins logo contest

Marengo Community High School senior Mark Bauer submitted the winning entry in the Marengo Main Street logo contest.

Art students at MCHS submitted 64 designs in the contest. The winner was selected by a panel of judges drawn from Marengo Main Street's board of directors and unveiled during the "Saturday Night on Main Street" celebration Oct. 6 in Marengo.

"It's a beautiful logo," said Pam Gitta, executive director of Marengo Main Street.

"It really tells a story about where Marengo came from and who we are today. It's going to help us position ourselves as a unique community in northern Illinois."

Bauer's design will soon be seen on Marengo Main Street business cards, stationery, signage and advertising.

Marengo Main Street Inc. is a volunteer-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting Marengo's downtown, for the benefit of the community.
