Elks to offer orthopedic clinic for children
The Des Plaines Elks Lodge 1526 and Schaumburg-Elk Grove Elks Lodge 2423, in cooperation with the Illinois Elks Children's Care Program will hold a free children's orthopedic diagnostic clinic for children who do not have private health insurance.
The clinic will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Northwest Orthopedic Surgery Associates, 1120 N. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
Children will be seen by appointment only. Call (800) 272-0074 between 1 and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to set up an appointment.
This free clinic is for children ages 0 to 21 with flat feet, feet that turn out or in, and for children that complain of leg, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist or back pain.
This is also an opportunity to have children just starting to walk reviewed for proper development.
The Elks provide for all diagnostic related costs including X-rays and other tests. In addition, the Elks will provide financial support for further treatment when needed if the family lacks financial resources.
Any area physician or charity may refer a patient to the clinic for a review or a second opinion which will be provided to any referring physician upon request.
While the Elks program concentrates primarily on orthopedic problems, they will provide assistance in a variety of other areas. However, the Elks Program does not help with school physicals, eye glasses, orthodontics, cancer, organ transplants or AIDS-related problems
