Library offering math help
Mundelein-area students struggling with math assignments can find free assistance at the Fremont Public Library.
Volunteers with the Motorola Asian Business Council are offering one-on-one tutoring and homework help twice a week until the winter break.
The sessions are set to run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday. They'll be staged in the youth services department study rooms on the first floor of the library, 1170 N. Midlothian Road.
Schaumburg-based Motorola's Asian Business Council consists of employees who volunteer in their communities. The tutoring program also has been offered at libraries in Gurnee, Schaumburg and Algonquin, according to a library news release.
At Fremont, the assistance is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations aren't required.
Students should bring their textbooks and, if needed, calculators.
For more information about the program, call the library at (847) 918-3218 or ask about the service at the youth services desk.
The tutoring service is one of several school-related programs Fremont promotes.
For example, its Web site, www.fremontlibrary.org, links to an online homework help center. The Fremont Web site also has information about local school assignments and a slew of online research resources in subjects including nature, astronomy, dinosaurs and health.
For older students, it offers links to free SAT and PSAT test preparation courses and more math assistance.
