Briefs: Mothers' Club to meet

The St. Charles Mothers' Club will have its regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Autopractor Auto Repair, 1820 Production Drive. After the meeting, the club will participate in a women's auto clinic to learn the basics of mechanics. Prospective members are invited to attend. Brush pickup slated

The final Campton Township brush pickup will be Monday through Friday for residents north of Route 64 and Oct. 22-26 for residents south of Route 64. The maximum length and diameter for tree limbs is 8 feet and 18 inches, respectively. Brush must be piled with cut ends facing the road. Small twigs should be tied. East High play production

St. Charles East High School theater students will present Joseph Kesselring's "Arsenic and Old Lace" from Friday to Oct. 21. The first two performances will be at 7 p.m., with the final production at 2 p.m. The fall play features a cast of more than 20. East is at 1020 Dunham Road. Call (630) 513-2105.

Visit scary houses

A self-guided tour of St. Charles' spookiest houses opens Friday. Guides for the Gallery of Goulish Homes tour are available at any park district facility or online at www.st-charlesparks.org. Homes will be judged Oct. 20 in six categories. The public can vote for a People's Choice Award through the park district Web site Oct. 21 to Nov. 1. Call (630) 513-4335.

Donate to pet charity

Homes for Endangered and Lost Pets in St. Charles is seeking contributions for its Fifth Annual Dinner & Auction Gala Friday at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St. The nonprofit animal rescue group is looking for items and services from businesses and individuals for the auction. Contributions should have a retail value of at least $25. Fox Valley thanks veterans

To say thanks to veterans in November during Veterans Recognition Month, the Fox Valley Park District will offer free fitness center admission, free admission to Polar Express at Blackberry Farm and 10 percent off at Orchard Valley Restaurant. The offer applies to all veterans and active members of the military and their immediate families, as well as members of the National Guard and the Reserves. Those eligible must show a military ID card for admittance.
