Flames vs. Mustangs: The Lake Zurich Big 10 Middleweight Flames, playing in The Chicagoland Youth Football League, shut out the Huntley Mustangs 24-0 on Oct. 7. The Flames now hold a 4-2 record after losing to Buffalo Grove last week.

In the first quarter, quarterback Jack Boliaux picked up his own fumble and scurried 55 yards for the game's first score.

On Huntley's first play after the ensuing kickoff, Steve Demmert stripped the ball from a Huntley running back, allowing the Flames to control the ball. The drive was capped off by a 30-yard pass from Camden Kuksa to Michael Hagan, who took the ball into the end zone to give the Flames a 12-0 lead.

Three plays later, Kuksa intercepted a Huntley pass to start another drive. Kuksa finished off with a quarterback keeper around right end, giving the Flames an 18-0 lead. With less than six minutes remaining, Colton Wagner made a 45-yard sprint up the middle for the final touchdown.

Quarterbacks Charlie Spatoulas, Boliaux, Demmert and Kuksa threw for a total of 61 yards passing, with receptions by Branden Arteaga, Hagan and Kuksa. Carries by James DeGeorge, Tony Anagnostopoulos, Noah Allgood, Arteaga, Wagner, Boliaux, Kuksa and Demmert, combined for a total of 172 yards rushing.

The Flames offensive line included Luke Yankoe, A.J. Trittschuh, Mitch Zovnic, Noah Ezsak, Allgood, DeGeorge and Hagan. The Flames defense of Brett Blum, Anthony Tinaglia, Anagnostopoulos, Arteaga, Spatoulas, Wagner, Hagan, DeGeorge, Kuksa, Demmert and Boliaux held the Huntley offense to a negative 13 yards rushing for the game.

The team is coached by Guy Boliaux, along with Dan Kuksa, offensive coordinator, and assistant coaches Marc Allgood, John Wagner and Ron Ezsak.

The Big 10 Middleweight Flames take on Plainfield at 6 p.m. Saturday at Four Seasons Park in Plainfield.
