St. Margaret Mary makes plans for Red Ribbon Week
St. Margaret Mary Catholic School in Algonquin is celebrating Red Ribbon Week for drug and alcohol awareness and prevention.
The school will begin its celebration with a kickoff assembly at 2:15 p.m. today. Algonquin Village President John Schmitt will be there to read a proclamation that encourages all citizens of McHenry County to recognize and participate in this special campaign.
St. Margaret Mary Home and School Association has put together a variety of events and activities for Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 23-31 for the entire student body.
Some of the highlights of the week include celebrity guest readers, including police officers, firefighters, Ronald McDonald on Tuesday; and students trimming a tree with red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to making healthy choices on Wednesday-Friday.
