District 204 says missing tests have been found

Indian Prairie Unit District 204 fifth-graders hoping for one special package this season got their wish Wednesday.

A box of their standardized test scores that recently went missing has been found, school board President Mark Metzger said.

Second- and fifth-graders had taken the Otis Lennon School Abilities Test in early October and the district shipped them via FedEx to be scored.

Several weeks later, the district learned the box of fifth-grade tests was nowhere to be found. At least not until Wednesday.

While Metzger didn't know the details of where or how the box was located, he said the good news is fifth-graders won't have to take new tests in December as planned.

The tests do not count toward federal No Child Left Behind standards, but the district uses them to help with middle school placement.

Indian Prairie covers portions of Naperville, Aurora, Bolingbrook and Plainfield.
