Crystal Lake police seek bank robber

Crystal Lake police are searching for a man after a bank robbery Saturday morning.

A man entered the main lobby of Citibank, 225 W. Virginia Ave., about 11:53 a.m. and handed a teller a hand-written note demanding money, Crystal Lake police said.

The man was described as unkempt, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, about 170 lbs. and 30 to 40 years old with a heavily bruised left eye. He was wearing light-colored baseball cap, a dark blue jacket, light-colored blue jeans, white gym shoes and was carrying a dark backpack, police said.

The man may have fled the bank on a bicycle after making off with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Anyone with any information, however slight, is asked to call police at (815) 356-3620; the FBI (815) 987-9833 or Crime Stoppers (800) 762-STOP. Calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous, paying a cash reward for information leading to an arrest, police said.
