MCC offering OSHA seminars
The Shah Center of McHenry County College announces a series of Occupational Safety and Health Administration compliance seminars offered in partnership with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. One OSHA seminar is offered each month from Tuesday through Dec. 11.
Topics include the following:
"Machinery and Machine Safeguarding," Tuesday, which teaches participants the OSHA standards needed to identify and control machinery related hazards
"Accident Investigation," Oct. 16, featuring rules for employer responsibilities concerning accident investigation and reporting; "10-hour Voluntary Compliance"
Nov. 6 and 7, an introduction to industry standards and overview of frequently cited standards, plus participants will receive the OSHA "10-hour" card
"Recordkeeping Rule," Dec. 11, which will feature reporting responsibilities for posting, maintaining and reporting records in compliance with OSHA regulations.
In addition to the compliance courses, a representative from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity's OSHA on-site consultation program will present an informational breakfast at the Shah Center on Oct. 18 to introduce attendees to DCEO's non-punitive program designed to assist employers in identifying and correcting safety and health hazards.
There is a nominal fee for the classes and the informational breakfast. All of activities will be held at the Shah Center, 4100 W. Shamrock Lane, McHenry.
