Family agency celebrating
TriCity Family Services will have an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, with a champagne toast at 5:30 p.m. and speech by the founder, to celebrate its 40th anniversary. It provides mental health services to children and families. The office is at 1120 Randall Court in Geneva.
Records to be destroyed
Geneva Community Unit School District 304 will destroy special education records from the 2001-02 school year of students who graduated, transferred or were dismissed from special services. Special education records might include reports of psychological and social work evaluations, multidisciplinary planning conferences, annual reviews, copies of individualized education programs and other relevant information. If a parent or student wants those records, call the Student Services Office at (630) 463-3061 before Oct. 8.
Gustafson anniversary
Alice Gustafson Elementary School will celebrate its 50th anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the school, 905 Carlisle Road, Batavia. The reunion committee is seeking old photos to display. Book review is back
"Books Between Bites" resumes Sept. 20 at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. Valerie Blaine, Kane County Forest Preserve District naturalist, discusses the book "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life" by author Barbara Kingsolver. The book is about one family's commitment to spending one year eating only food they had grown themselves or was locally grown. The free program is at noon. Bring a lunch; coffee, soft drinks and cookies are sold. Lunch can also be pre-ordered and available for pick-up just before the program from 10 South Coffee House at the library. Register your bicycle
St. Charles police and the STC Underground Teen Center will team up Sept. 22 for bicycle registration. For $1 residents can register their bicycles with the city in case the bikes are ever lost or stolen. Registration is from 1 to 4 p.m. at the center, 101 S. Second St. Call (630) 513-4322.
