Clinic may be legal, but it still takes lives
This is in response to the Fence Post dated Sept. 10 entitled, "Services of Planned Parenthood needed." It basically said that abortion clinics such as Planned Parenthood are welcome additions to our communities for they provide various services including abortions. Woman who are seeking pregnancy termination can do so safely and legally - gone are the days of secret abortions and maimed and bloody women.
I thought to myself, gone are the days of maimed and bloody women but welcome to the era of maimed and bloody fetuses.
How can we as a society turn a blind eye to the often- overlooked violent termination of life because it is a convenience we have "a right" to.
This also raises the question of when "life" begins. A rationale would be, well it's not really a person yet anyway so what's the difference. Most all of us (with the exception of agnostics) believe we are all some sort of spirit or soul living in a human body. That someday our spirit will transcend our bodies and live on. I realize there is a moment we become "human"- a point when that spirit has begun and that point is the moment we are conceived. Our "spirit" isn't something we acquire later, it is not something that just "shows up" when the heart has all four ventricles or when the eyes begin to see. We are conceived with it.
Let's all sit back and realize what abortion really is. It's the ending of a life, a precious spirit that has every God-given right to a chance in this world. Maybe Planned Parenthood is legally allowed to be there but that doesn't mean we have to approve of it.
